NOVEMBER 15, 2022 — The Lyons Central School District is excited to welcome Mr. Brennan Dailey to the MS/HS as the District’s newest Agriculture and Technology Teacher.
Mr. Dailey, who grew up in Penn Yan and still lives in that area, comes directly to Lyons after graduating in 2022 from SUNY Morrisville with his Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business. He is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education at SUNY Oswego.
Though he was actively involved in FFA and 4H all throughout middle school and high school, Mr. Dailey credits his own Ag teacher for fostering his desire to become a teacher.
“She was a large inspiration for me,” Mr. Dailey said. “And I’m excited to give the kids an opportunity to learn something different.”
This year, Mr. Dailey will be teaching Animal Science, Plant Science (Horticulture), Intro to Agriculture and 7th Grade Technology (Design and Drawing for Production).
“Students grow by doing things,” Mr. Dailey said. “The use of my classroom and the knowledge that I want to bring to them is going to help them grow, help them become better leaders.”
Mr. Dailey is excited to open up the workshop and the classroom to not only his direct students, but to anyone at Lyons who is interested in creating something, building something or growing something.
As a new teacher, he’s a bit nervous about striking the proper balance between being admired and being respected. But he knows he has a lot to offer Lyons students, and he hopes they’ll give him the chance to prove that.
“I truly believe kids will not learn from someone they do not like, so I want them to like me so that they can learn from me,” Mr. Dailey said. “I want them to know they can trust me, they’re welcomed in my room and that they’re smart and valued.”
