DECEMBER 1, 2022 — The Lyons Central School District welcomes its newest Family Consumer Science Teacher, Mrs. Erin Brooks, who joined the District this fall.
Mrs. Brooks, who graduated from SUNY Cortland with her Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education in 2009, and Canisius College with her Master’s Degree in Physical Education and Health in 2011, comes to Lyons after working at Dundee Central School District for the last decade.
While Mrs. Brooks is excited to teach FCS in the MS/HS — helping students establish life skills related to cooking, sewing, parenting, finance and career planning — she also is thrilled to be taking on a new role at Lyons as the District’s Student Activities Director.
As Student Activities Director, Mrs. Brooks will be in charge of planning major student events such as the Back to School Bash, Homecoming, pep rallies and spirit weeks, talent shows, fundraisers and more.
Thankfully, Mrs. Brooks said she lives for event planning — and organizing fun activities for students to remember for the rest of their lives is something she is thrilled about.
"The most important thing for me as a teacher is my relationship with my students," Mrs. Brooks said. "I’m really excited to get to know the kids, and I’m excited to be a part of this community. I’m ready to dive in head-first and get to know this community, and have them get to know me too."
