FEBRUARY 16, 2023 — The Lyons Central School District is excited to welcome Mrs. Megan Robbins to the Elementary School, where she joined the District as a 4th Grade Teacher this fall.
Mrs. Robbins comes to Lyons from North Carolina, where she has lived for about a decade. She originally grew up in a small town outside of Owego, New York, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in childhood and special education from SUNY Geneseo in 2011.
In North Carolina, she has taught several elementary grade levels — 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th — with the exception of 4th grade.
“I thought I would never come back to New York, but here I am,” Mrs. Robbins said. “And I’m excited to be filling in that gap by teaching 4th Grade here at Lyons.”
In North Carolina, Mrs. Robbins taught at a private Montessori school. There, she felt like she was less of a teacher and more of a guide — students were ahead academically, and it was a struggle to find ways to challenge them.
Now, as she makes the transition to teaching at a public school, she’s excited to help more students who might need dedicated teachers more than students at a private school.
“I really want to create a place where students feel safe, and people see the value in each other,” Mrs. Robbins said. “I’m excited to be somewhere I can make more of a difference.”
