MARCH 7, 2023 – A new tradition was born at Lyons Elementary School last week. LES Principal Mrs. Christine Taylor took a few minutes to place calls home to two selected families, sharing news of their students’ positive achievements at LES.
The two students who received Friday's calls were nominated by their teachers for demonstrating ROAR expectations in all areas in the month of February. The first call – the “Cub Call” for students Pre-K through 2nd grade, went out to Mikah E.’s family. Mikah E., nominated by Ms. Ledgerwood, “is always upbeat, kind, and ready to learn.” Ms. Ledgerwood’s nomination continued, “He always helps other students and puts them before himself. He sets a great example for his peers.”
The second call, called the “Proud Paws” call, is for students in 3rd through 6th grades. Eliza B., nominated by Mrs. DeCracker, received the March 3rd Proud Paws call. Mrs. DeCracker writes, “ Eliza is a role model student who always displays ROAR behavior, all day long. She is hard-working and demonstrates compassion towards everyone.”
Moving forward, one student from UPK-2nd and one student from 3rd-6th will be recognized on Friday each week. The students who receive the call are selected randomly from the nomination forms submitted that month. Students will receive a phone call home from administration, have their photo taken, and be recognized in district communications for their achievements.
Great job, Mikah and Eliza, and congratulations on being our first ROAR Cub Call and Proud Paws students!
