MARCH 8, 2023 – Lyons HS Senior Jason Hunt-McLean has been recognized as LCSD’s 2023 recipient of the Wayne-Finger Lakes Superintendent Award. The annual award recognizes the achievements of student leaders throughout the 25 Wayne-Finger Lakes component districts.
Hunt-McLean received the Superintendent Award during the Second Annual Wayne-Finger Lakes Superintendent Award Program Celebration and Reception, held on March 2nd in Newark. Jason also won one of only five scholarships open to Superintendent Award recipients that evening.
Students selected for the Superintendent Award had to meet specific criteria including having demonstrated outstanding scholarship – earning an 80 GPA or higher at the end of their Junior year – and showing exceptional leadership and citizenship. Each student was nominated for the award by the administration in their respective districts.
All students recognized on Thursday evening were also eligible for scholarships made possible through the support of five scholarship partners, including Reliant Credit Union, Campus Construction, Ferrara Fiorenza PC, Harris Beach PLLC, and Watchdog Building Partners.
While Jason expected to be recognized with the Superintendent Award, the additional scholarship from Campus Construction came as a surprise. In addition to the five scholarships, each Superintendent Award Recipient was told by keynote speaker Dr. Robert Nye – President of Finger Lakes Community College – that they would receive a $1000 scholarship should they choose to attend FLCC next year.
Congratulations, Jason!
