Mrs. Raes in her classroom with smiling students

JULY 20, 2023 — After 33 years with the Lyons Central School District, Mrs. Heather Raes retired at the close of the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Raes was a beloved K-2 Special Education Consultant Teacher at LES for 30 years. For the 3 prior years, she held other positions within the district.

Mrs. Raes not only worked in LCSD her entire career, but is also an alumna of Lyons.

"I am one of the group of unique Lyons teachers who graduated from Lyons. I started Kindergarten at LES in 1972, graduated in 1985, student taught at Lyons Jr/Sr High in 1989, and started my full time job at LES in 1992. I have loved being able to teach at my alma mater for my entire career."

While Mrs. Raes will miss the many students and coworkers she considers "like a family," she is looking forward to traveling with family as well as caring for her granddaughter, Nora, and her new grandson who is due in Fall 2023.
