Monroe Community College: November 17
Students in grades 10-12 had the opportunity to visit Monroe Community College on November 29, 2023. Students participated in a meet and greet with department representatives where they filled a passport as they learned about program offerings, degree requirements, and services available at the college. Students then had a tour of campus and heard from the director of admissions about ways to ensure success in college. The day finished off with a great lunch!
Finger Lakes Community College: November 30
On November 30th, 35 10th, 11th, and 12th graders took advantage of an opportunity to visit Finger Lakes Community College. They were given an overview of the Academic Success & Access Programs including EOP, the math/writing center, science incubator, and disability services. After a tour of campus, students had lunch in the dining hall.
SUNY Brockport: December 5
On December 5th, 30 students in grades 10, 11, and 12 took advantage of the opportunity to visit SUNY Brockport. Current student ambassadors took our students on a campus tour. In addition, Lyons scholars attended information sessions with the admissions office and the Director of the Educational Opportunity Program. The day finished up with the highlight of an all you can eat buffet lunch on campus!
Keuka & HWS: December 9
On Saturday, December 9th, 11 Lyons High School students took advantage of the opportunity to visit Keuka College and Hobart and William Smith Colleges, offered in collaboration with Debbie Lester through the Lyons After-School Program.
Keuka College provided an overview of new and unique initiatives they are offering. A current senior majoring in Social Work provided a campus tour and shared personal insights into her path at Keuka and what helped her be successful. After a complimentary breakfast, the group continued on to Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
At HWS, our group was given a tour of campus and then had the option to visit the dedicated art campus to view an exhibit at the Davis Gallery by photographer Juan Madrid, or attend a Women's Basketball game. The day wrapped up with a trivia of facts learned to win donated HWS merch.
