Lyons Central School District student Abram F. got to speak about his growth and success as a student at Red Jacket Education Center at a Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Board of Education Meeting on Monday, May 6.
Abram, a sixth grader at Lyons, described his evolution from an "egg" to a "chicken." He compared his growth journey to that of a bird and shared with the audience how he has evolved through his educational experiences and is now looking forward to transitioning back from Red Jacket to Lyons MS/HS this coming fall.
"I set a goal, a while ago, to go back to my home district as a student. To do this, I had to be safe all the time, respect others, be responsible, and be kind," Abram said in his presentation.
"At Red Jacket we focus on Safety, Teamwork, Awareness, Respect, and Responsibility. If I do that, I can earn an ALL STARR! These are weekly goals and we use Second Step in school to teach us this," he said. "When I return to Lyons, I want to go into high school and then college. I want to work with animals and science. My favorites are ants, termites, chickens and snakes. I will miss Red Jacket badly."
Lyons Superintendent Dr. Matt Barr said he enjoyed being in attendance for Abram's presentation.
"It was great to hear Abram share his progress that he's made at Red Jacket Education Center," said Dr. Barr. "It is always great to see students grow and succeed at placements through Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES."
