This week, the Lyons Elementary Student Council dropped off donations from their food drive to the local food pantry! Thanks to the generosity of our students, families, and staff, they helped stock the shelves and bring smiles to our community. Way to go, LES—showing that kindness and teamwork make a big impact!
Ms. Brooks's talented art students took on a unique challenge: recreating classic masterpieces using everyday materials! From repurposed items to imaginative substitutions, their innovative recreations brought famous artworks to life with a fun, modern twist. This hands-on project celebrated creativity, problem-solving, and a fresh appreciation for the classics.
LCSD's Instructional Coach, Mrs. Calabretta, brought holiday cheer to Mr. Cole's third-grade class as a guest reader. She captivated the students with an engaging reading of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas." Thank you, Mrs. Calabretta and Mr. Cole, for sharing the joy of reading and the magic of the season!
Elementary students and their families gathered for a fantastic Literacy Night, hosted by the Community Reads Program! From interactive reading activities to engaging stories, everyone had a blast celebrating the joy of books and learning. Thank you to all who joined us for this memorable evening, helping to inspire a love of reading in our students!
The 3rd Annual Wrestling Tournament at the Lyons Community Center was a huge success, hosting over six competing schools. Our Lyons Varsity Wrestling team represented Lyons with pride as they showcased their skill, determination, and teamwork! A big thank you to everyone who participated and supported the event.
Our talented elementary choir students have been busy rehearsing for the Winter Concert! From practicing their songs to perfecting their harmonies, they work hard to bring a festive performance to the stage. We can't wait to see our talented students shine on December 18th and 19th at the Lyons Elementary School Auditorium!
Students in Ms. Gansz's global studies classes explored the complexities of New Imperialism through an interactive learning experience at the Berlin Conference. This lesson allowed students to synthesize that claims over land often result in borders being shifted on political maps, often with little regard for traditional cultures and commerce.
8th graders in Mr. Przepiora's took part in an exciting assembly line simulation to bring the Industrial Revolution to life! This interactive activity gave students a hands-on experience of how mass production transformed industries, all while making history come alive in an engaging way.
Baylei Reed and Nathan Pelton, along with FFA teacher Mr. Dailey, had the opportunity to attend the National FFA Convention in Indiana! They recently shared their inspiring experiences and takeaways from the event with the Board of Education. From leadership lessons to new agricultural insights, they represented Lyons FFA with pride!
