We are proud to share that Lyons Central School District has been awarded the BOOST Grant, providing over $1.2 million across the next 5 years to expand out-of-school time opportunities for students in grades 7–12!
The Lyons BOOST Project will offer year-round programming outside of school hours. Students will benefit from: ✅ Academic support & peer tutoring ✅ Workforce development, career prep, and paid internships ✅ Social-emotional learning activities ✅ Student-led family engagement events ✅ Partnerships with Peaceful Schools, Literacy Volunteers, and local businesses
This initiative will not only strengthen student achievement and career readiness but also foster leadership, community connections, and opportunities for every learner to thrive.
Thank you to all who supported this effort—we’re excited to begin this journey with our students and community!
This week, Superintendent Matthew Barr met with U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer to advocate for the continuation of grants that fund mental health services in our schools. He discussed the significant impact of grants that provide funding for mental health services in our schools. These grants help bring trained professionals to support students when they need it most, and our district has also established learning pathways for students interested in pursuing careers in helping professions, such as mental health.
This week, Senior Brady Bastian, our Student Representative on the LCSD Board of Education, joined Superintendent Dr. Barr at the Regional Student Board of Education Training at BOCES.
Brady continues to make Lyons proud—sharing student insights, representing his peers, and providing valuable updates at last night’s Board of Education meeting —helping ensure the student voice is heard at the decision-making table.

🎓 Kicking off Graduation Week with LCSD Pride! 🎓
Just over a week ago, the Class of 2025 participated in the heartwarming tradition of the Senior Walk, marking the beginning of their final chapter at Lyons Central School District.
Led by our Valedictorian and Salutatorian, seniors made their way from the high school to the elementary building, escorted by the Lyons Fire Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. As they entered the halls, they were greeted by roaring cheers, handmade signs, high fives, and in many cases, heartfelt hugs from family members and former teachers.
This special moment is more than a celebration—it's a powerful reflection of community, mentorship, and LCSD pride.
Let the countdown to graduation begin!
