Last week, Lyons Middle/High School came together for our annual Moving-Up Day Ceremony—a special tradition to close out the school year with celebration and pride!
🎓 Seniors were honored for their accomplishments and growth as they prepare to take the next step beyond LCSD.
🏆 Academic and athletic awards were presented to recognize the hard work, leadership, and achievements of our students and coaches throughout the year.
🛠️ Our incredible Facilities team was celebrated for their year-round dedication—working behind the scenes to maintain our buildings, support student events, and keep our athletic fields ready for play.
💵 Seniors from the Advanced Leadership Class presented a check for over $2,000 to Galisano Children's Hospital, raised from their Grandslam Giveback Softball Tournament Fundraiser hosted this year.
📘 A special shoutout to Jody Swann, MS/HS Cook Manager, who was selected by the senior class for the 2025 Yearbook Dedication in recognition of her warm spirit and unwavering commitment to our students and staff.

📚 Our 5th graders took center stage during a heartwarming Reading Night, where they proudly shared original books they wrote, illustrated, and published around the theme "Kindness is Our Jam.” Hosted in the auditorium, the event allowed students to bravely read their stories aloud to an audience of family, friends, and staff.
Each class dedicated their books to members of our school community who make a difference in their daily lives — a beautiful gesture of gratitude and appreciation.
A big congratulations to our incredible 5th-grade students and the amazing teaching team behind this event: Mrs. Bookmiller, Mrs. Clark, Mrs. Fries, and Mrs. Simmons. Well done!

Heat Days for Lyons Elementary School - Monday & Tuesday (June 23 -24).
*All events are canceled EXCEPT for UPK and K graduations on June 24th. Graduations will take place in the air-conditioned auditorium.
Last week was packed with incredible moments at LCSD—and there’s no way we can fit them all into one post! So, we’re giving each highlight its own spotlight throughout the week.
First up: the Middle/High School “Pops” Art Show and Band/Chorus Concert!

🏆 Wayne County League Champions! 🥎
Congratulations to our Lyons Lions Varsity Softball Team on an undefeated regular season and being crowned Wayne County League Champions! This young, dominant team showed incredible grit and talent all season long — and with so much returning strength, the future is bright.
In addition to their on-field success, the team was recognized as a Scholar-Athlete Team, proving their excellence in both athletics and academics.
Head Coach Andrew Richardson shared,
"This team had great team chemistry and great team leadership that helped us to exceed expectations this season."
